VOA Chinese, May 16, 2009.

(Author of the new book

My comment: In late 1970s in Taiwan, I (a resident of City of Kaohsiung) went with my classmate to his hometown I was introduced to a grammar school teacher, a man in his forties, who said humbly that his life-long wish was to write a book after retirement--a book whose content would be too politically sensitive that he had to wait. Neither my classmate nor I dared to ask what it was about. Taiwan was under martial law then.

My comment: I do not know of this lawsuit, but it is old news, for according to this report the civil action started 2 years ago. However, two noted media groups reported about the lawsuits just a week ago.

(e) The lawsuit appears to be filed with United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. I do not know if the case has merit but if there is none, it should not cost much to defend the case, although American lawyers charge a lot.

Note: These are Taiwanese area units.
A hectare = 2.47 acres = 0.01 square kilometer or 10,000 square meters.

So 四分地 = 4,000 square meters.
