(book review on Mae Ngai, The Lucky Ones; One Family and The Extraordinary
Invention of Chinese America. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (2010))

Note:
(a) Some people surnamed 魏 in Hong Kong has the family spelled Ngai. Though
well versed in Cantonese, I am clueless.
(b) I presume Mamie Tape married a man surnamed Lowe to obtain Mamie Tape
Lowe.

Lowe as last/family name can be of a Westerner or a Chinese.

Mamie is short form of Margaret or Mary, from a nursery form.
