(1) James Glanz and John Markoff, Vast Hacking by a China Fearful of the Web; Cables depict Google shock, censorship and cyberattacks. New York Times, Dec. 5, 2010.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/05/world/asia/05wikileaks-china.html?_r=1&hp

My comment: This front-page report is explosive. There are short summaries in Chinese at Voice of American and BBC.

(2) Mark Landler, Clinton Squeezes WikiLemons, Trying to Make Diplomatic Lemonade; 'What you see,' said the secretary of the state, 'are diplomats doing the work of diplomacy.' New York Times, Dec. 5, 2010 (title in the print).

Note:
(a) The noun "cub" in "cub reporter": "APPRENTICE; especially : an inexperienced newspaper reporter"
(b) The adjective "cute" in "cute writing": "IMPERTINENT, SMART-ALECKY <don't get cute with me>"
(c) The adjective "sodden" (from past participle of Middle English sethen      to seethein) in "alcohol-sodden water-scooter jaunts":
"1a : dull or expressionless especially from continued indulgence in alcoholic beverages <sodden features> * * *
2a : heavy with or as if with moisture or water <the sodden ground>"

All definitions are from www.m-w.com.

(3) Eric Lipton, Don't Look, Don't Read: Government tells workers to avert eyes for leaks. New York Times, Dec. 5, 2010.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/05/world/05restrict.html?hp

My comment:
(a) Just read  the first three paragraphs.
(b) Apparently the workers at VOA are either exempt or not government employees/ contractors. VOA has been actively reporting WikiLeaks.

(4) David E Sanger, Engage, but Move to Plan B; What WikiLeaks tells us about Obama's foreign policy--its success and limitations; While WikiLeaks intended to expose duplicity, what struck many outside readers was that American diplomacy looked rather impressive. New York Times, Dec. 5, 2010 (title in the print).
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/05/weekinreview/05wikileaks-sanger.html?hp

My comment; In the print, the byline shows "Beijing." This ananlysis appears not in the news section but in the weekly "Week in Review" section (for news analysis and opinions).
