The current issue of Fortune, whose cover date is July 21, 2014, includes an annual special: Global 500. No 166 is Pacific Construction Group, for which Fortune runs a feature story (a rare treatment).

Scott Cendrowski, China’s Baddest Billionaire Builder. YAN JIEHE has no problem trash-talking Mao, playing hardball with Communist Party--let competitors, or knocking down a few mountains--if that’s what it takes to build a new city. In China, there’s simply no one like him in business.

Quotation in the window of print: The industry we’re in is the dirtiest one. But what we do is very transparent, very pure. What really happens is that if some people bribe officials, they get imprisoned.  --Yan Jiehe

My comment:
(a) 严 介和 / 太平洋建设集团
(b) Yunnan Zhenzhuang Guest House  雲南震莊迎賓館(昆明市)
(c) Huai’an  江苏省 淮安市
(d) It is interesting (for me) to read about his grubby hometown Huai’an--starting with the paragraph that begins with “A black Rolls-Royce Phantom.”
(e) Also search the report with “Lanzhou” to see how the city, and Mr Yan, are moving mountains.
