Kelly Pucci, Letter to editor: An Insider's View on Hefner.
https://www.economist.com/news/l ... fner-letters-editor
(the last item in the Web page)

Note:
(a) "In the late 1960s, I worked as a Bunny (not Bunny Girl, as stated in your obituary of Hugh Hefner in the Oct 7th issue) and lived in the Playboy Mansion in Chicago. * * * The dormitory we lived in had a 'no man allowed' policy and that included Hef and the rest of his staff."
(i)
(A) Playboy Bunny
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_Bunny
(is a waitress at a Playboy Club * * * that operated between 1960 and 1988)
(B) Officially (in the jargon of Playboy), there is no "Bunny Girl" -- only Playboy Playmate, Playboy Bunny and Playboy Model.

Ex Playboy Bunnies
http://www.explayboybunnies.com/

Click the tab "FAQ" in the top horizontal bar, the answer to the question "What is the difference between Bunnies and Playmates?" explains the difference among the three categories.
(ii) "The dormitory we lived in had a 'no man allowed' policy." That is technically correct. But my impression upon reading it was the MANSION itself had the policy, which would be impossible because Hefner worked there.
(A) Playboy Mansion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_Mansion
(section 1.2 Original Chicago mansion: "Although Playboy Enterprises would remain headquartered in Chicago until 2012, Hefner left the city permanently for Los Angeles in 1974 following the conviction and ensuing suicide of Arnstein, the culmination of 'a federal * * * investigation of drug use in Hefner's mansion' by US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and future Governor of Illinois James R Thompson" ( who served unprecedented four terms, including my time in Chicago
(B) Kori Rumore, A Playboy's guide to Hugh Hefner's Chicago. Chicago Tribune, Sept 27, 2017.
www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-p ... 0516-htmlstory.html

four consecutive paragraphs:

"Hefner purchased the [Chicago] mansion in 1959 for $400,000 with plans to build a pool in the basement. The city would only allow it after Hefner convinced officials it was for personal, not commercial, use.

"His office was in his bedroom [of teh Chicago mansion] * * *

"House guests are common and include cartoonist Shel Silverstein, comedian Bill Cosby, all five Rolling Stones and actor Warren Beatty. Hefner lived on the second floor of the mansion, and the third and fourth floors would become Bunny dormitories, where rent was $50 a month. The rules were strict: No male visitors and no liquor unless Hefner offered it.

"After purchasing the Los Angeles mansion in 1971, Hefner spent less time in Chicago. In August 1984, Playboy Enterprises leased the Chicago mansion to the School of the Art Institute for five years at $10 a year. (Hefner had taken a figure drawing class at the school.)

(b) "many of us went on to other careers: Deborah Harry founded Blondie, Lauren Hutton graced the covers of fashion magazines"
(i) Blondie (band)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blondie_(band)
("founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein" in 1974)

Ms Harry was a Playboy Bunny in New York City (from 1968 to 1973: Time; but many says just "9 months"). The Photo in the home page of http://www.explayboybunnies.com is hers taken in 1966.
(ii) Lauren Hutton
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_Hutton
(born Mary Laurence Hutton; an American model)
