(2) 台湾へのワクチン提供方針固める、124万回分 きょう発送へ. TBS News, June 4, 2021

("「台湾国内におきましては、7月以降ですね、国内での生産体制というのは、まだあのかなり整ってくると考えておりまして、当面の緊急のニーズというのが台湾にある、このような認識でおります」(茂木敏充外相)")

my translation: Production of vaccine in Taiwan will rise after July. About domestic production [likely alluding to Taiwan, as Japan has no intention to produce coronavirus vaccines], still we can somewhat adjust that number, which is to relieve the urgent situation of the moment in Taiwan. That is the understanding 認識.

Note:
(a) (ii) Japanese-English dictionary:
* okiru 起きる 【おきる】 (v): "(1) to get up [from bed]; to rise; to blaze up (fire); (2) to wake up; to be awake; to stay awake [all definitions in (2) alludes to: lying in bed but not falling in sleep]; (3) to happen"
* mada まだ (adv): "still"
* totono-u 整う(P); 調う 【ととのう】 (v):" (1) to be ready; to be prepared * * * (3) to be adjusted * * * to be refined"

(b)
(i) Pronounced "wakuchin" (Japanese pronunciation does not have "ti" but "chi" only), ワクチン is katakana for "vaccine."
(ii) Tokyo Broadcasting System

(1951- ; based in Tokyo; "TBS is a member of the Mitsui keiretsu [kanji 系列; meaning: conglomerate]")

(c) No English language news reports talk about this: Yes, Japan gives vaccines to Taiwan -- but no, Japan's mentioning Taiwan as 国.
(d) pertinent information:
(i) AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine Vaxzevria Authorised for Emergency Use in Japan. AstraZenica, May 21, 2021.

There is no need to read the content.

Japan had approved Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine on Feb 14, 2021, for emergency use on persons 18 years or older.
(ii) Japan's Covid Vaccine Donation Will More Than Double Taiwan's Supply. CNBC, June 4, 2021
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/04/ ... taiwans-supply.html
("Japan has contracted to procure more than 300 million doses of coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca, more than enough to cover its entire population. * * * Japan approved AstraZeneca's vaccine last month and has contracted to buy 120 million doses. But there are no immediate plans to use the shots, amid lingering concerns raised internationally over blood clots")

Japan has been donating AstraZenica vaccine to, besides Taiwan, Malaysia and Vietnam.

The "more than 300 million doses" is not specific enough. See next.
(iii) Osamu Tsukimori, Japan Issues Final Approval for Moderna and AstraZeneca Vaccines. Japan Times, May 21, 2021
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/new ... razeneca-formal-ok/
("Japan has contracts for the three manufacturers to provide a total of 364 million doses, more than enough to cover two shots for all of the country's 126 million residents.
The number of doses ordered are as follows:
• AstraZeneca: 120 million shots
• Moderna: 50 million shots by the end of September; in talks to acquire an additional 50 million shots for next year
• Pfizer: 194 million shots by the end of the year")
