Keiichi Furukawa, Kosuke Kondo and Ryosuke Eguchi, TSMC Fab in Japan at Center of Sony's Image Sensor Kingdom; Supply chain with locally produced chips key to boosting output. Nikkei Asia, Dec 17, 2022.

("Sony commanded 44% of the CMOS [Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor] image sensor market by value in 2021 * * * But unlike Samsung Electronics, which held an 18% market share last year, the Japanese electronics company lacks in-house capabilities to produce cutting-edge logic chips. For Sony to achieve its goal of a 60% market share by fiscal 2025, the ability to locally source logic chips from TSMC to ramp up production is critical.  Kikuyo, in Kumamoto prefecture, where TSMC is building its foundry * * * The [Kumamoto] prefecture is home to a Sony Semiconductor Solutions [(Corp) ソニー  セミコンダクタ  ソリューションズ] plant as well as a regional unit of chipmaking device giant Tokyo Electron [Limited 東京エレクトロン株式会社]  * * *
Sony is looking at Koshi [Kōshi (合志(市)], a city adjacent to Kikuyo, for the site of its planned multibillion dollar plant")

Note:
(a) Sony Semiconductor Solutions (SSS; established in 2015) does make its own CMOS image sensor (trademark: Exmor, for which there is a en.wikipedia.org page). So the Nikkei article (Sony "lacks in-house capabilities to produce cutting-edge logic chip") only means logical chips, not sensors.
(b) Kikuyō[, Kikuchi District,] Kumamoto  熊本県 [菊池郡 (which is on the southernb border of 菊池市)] 菊陽町
